Essential Oils to Ease Recovery from Addiction

Share Button

Today in my 7th year of sobriety, I am looking back remembering how very difficult the early days of recovering from alcoholism or addictions can be. In the early days there are many discomforts that one experiences…and I had to share how essential oils may help to ease these. Thankfully there are many natural ways to make the process easier; today I’ll be sharing how essential oils can be used.

To the brain, all addictions have similar damaging effects. Irrelevant which substance the person is using, the body releases chemicals which give a “high” or feeling of euphoria but the pleasure or relief from pain is temporary. When the body starts to expect these substances and doesn’t get it once the addict enters recovery the addict experiences many physical and emotional responses which are unpleasant to say the least.

Essential oils can be used to help reprogram the body’s cravings for substances and strengthen the person’s resolution to abstain. Essential oils are also able to support and strengthen the emotional areas of pain that caused the person to begin the addictive behaviour. In early recovery I was blessed with some oils from a friend and I hope this listing helps someone out there.

I have to pause here to ask you to double check the quality of the essential oils you purchase because they are not created equally. We use only dōTERRA products because I am confident with the purity (no fillers) and potency.
