Happy Mother’s Day weekend!!!
In honor of this day I’ve decided to go public with something very exciting I’m doing to support an organization that helps mothers.
I love my hair, it’s become somewhat of trademark over the years. My hair turned white naturally very early in life and I have colored it and worn funky styles since I was in my early 20’s.
Did I mention that I LOVE my hair?
Well folks I must be off my rocker because recently I made a HUGE announcement on Facebook.
I’m shaving my hair off…..bald.
BALD.
On August 19th I’m hosting the Bald Better Be Beautiful event where there will be a fabulous silent auction, entertainment, great food and yes…..my head being shaved….BALD.
Even my Mum is shocked that I’ve made a commitment to what amounts to the craziest thing I’ve done to date.
It may be a wacky thing to do but it’s something I’ve felt compelled to do for a while now. I cannot run a marathon, I can’t actually do anything physical to fund raise but this I can do!
I’m shaving off my trademark locks to raise money for Ronald McDonald House in Toronto.
“Established in 1981, Ronald McDonald House Toronto seeks to provide a home away from home for seriously ill children and their families to heal better together.”
So head on over to begin donating, I’m not too proud to beg!
RMH supports so many families by providing a place where families can stay and simply be a family while living in the chaos of medical treatments, tests and hospital visits.
If you’d like to donate to this cause, you can head over to my Bald Better Be Beautiful page or contact me directly if you don’t have a credit card.
I’m frightened to announce this, now there is no way to back out…..now I know I’ll be bald for the first time in a few years.
What do you think, I’m pretty sure I can pull off the bald look.
For those of you who are interested in attending the event on August 19th, I’ll be sharing details about the event over the next month and would love to see you there.
Wow! Good for you, Julie – I admire you! What a fabulous cause!
You’re a brave woman. And I’m sure you’ll be just as gorgeous as ever!
way to go! Not sure I would be able to do it – but good for you! It is such a great cause!
Amazing Julie, what an amazing dedication to a great cause! I can’t wait to see your journey through such a heartfelt cause.
Oh, you are amazing! Julie, this has been something I was thinking of doing but never got around to it. I was going to do it to raise funds for Mount Sinai Hospital or Sick Kids Hospital, where my little preemie spent her first days, weeks, and months of her life. The Ronald McDonald House Toronto is also important to me because they offer parents with sick babies and sick kids a place to stay for low prices when their wee ones are in the hospital. I know. We are living proof of their good deeds. I will support your cause, my friend :)
Good for you! :) I don’t think I could do it (I’d rather run the marathon!) but as you say, each of us can do what we can do, instead of looking at what we can’t do. And I’m sure you will be beautiful bald. :)
You are a brave woman and an inspiration to all of us. You’re supporting an amazing cause.
Wish I could be there to hold your hand with you. I shaved my head last September for the Relay for Life. Nobody thought I would do it. They thought I was too shy, not brave enough. But I did it. And I rocked the look (or so I was told). Many people wanted me to keep it that way.
You will look beautiful Julie! It just takes a few days to get used to. And I have an Etsy site (not my own personal site) I can send you the link to where I got my cute hats from. :)
Wow Julie, way to go! How do I go about donating something, maybe a custom Shadow Box or/and Silver Fingerprint necklace for your auction? Debbie
Respect!
Thank you all for showing me so much love, I don’t think I’m brave…..but remind me of that the morning of the shaving please…..Debbie I’ll take you up on that offer, going to email you .
I see uber cute hats in your future :)
and also, that pic – look at you skinny minnie xxx
Wow! What a commitment! Bald is Brave and RMH families are THANKING you!
Wow! How did I miss that you were doing this?
I am WAY too vain. There, I said it.
I want to donate blood (in honour of my son) but I can’t (long story).
We donate new toys to CHEO but this is SERIOUS.
Sent you a Friend Request so that I can DM you.
