As many of you know I love all things PINK….ok I love the artist named Pink…but this month I’m not alone in my love of Pink. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and folks around the globe are jumping in on the action.
Telus will donate $2 to Rethink Breast Cancer for Each Facebook Cover Changed
Did you know breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths in Canada among women under 50? Surprising right? We thought so too. The good news is that when breast cancer is caught in its earliest stages, the five-year survival rate for women ages 20-39 is close to 90%.
Many Canadians believe that young women are not affected by breast cancer, so that’s why over the next three weeks we’re going on a mission to raise awareness about this misconception and help young women get the support they deserve- we’re going to do this in a LOUD way!
Up until November 6, 2012, we’re running a social media campaign called ‘Pink Out Loud’ and we’re calling on you to jump aboard the pink bandwagon and “pink out” your Facebook profile. You can do this by visiting our Facebook page on a computer and downloading a pink profile picture and cover photo. Updating your profile picture to a pink box acts as a symbol of support for young women whose lives have been affected by breast cancer (see the image below for more details). With each profile and cover photo download we’ll donate $2* to Rethink Breast Cancer – the first Canadian breast cancer charity to bring awareness to the under-40 age bracket. And on top of that, we’ll be getting LOUD on telusmobility.com too! For the next three weeks we’re turning the site completely pink!
It was very simple to do, simply go to the Pink Out Loud app on the Telus Facebook page and they provide step by step instructions. Come on folks, for 2 minutes of your time you’ll be donating $2! Telus goes even further, offering a further $2 if you share this campaign with your network of friends!!
