10 Bible Verses Where I Draw Strength – The Power of Prayer

Share Button

Today I’m facing what will be a difficult day for me and I know how anxious I will be if I rely upon myself. So I turn to God in times like this for the strength and courage He offers.

Here are some of my favorite verses from which I draw strength in my belief that prayer is powerful:

Psalm 107:28-30 Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. He made the storm be still, and the waves of the sea were hushed. Then they were glad that the waters were quiet, and he brought them to their desired haven

Matthew 7:7 ”Ask, and it will be given to you seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.

Matthew 21:22 And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.”

Mark 9:29 And he said to them, “This kind cannot be driven out by anything but prayer.”

Mark 11:24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

John 14:13-14 Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it

Acts 9:40 But Peter put them all outside, and knelt down and prayed; and turning to the body he said, “Tabitha, arise.” And she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter she sat up.

Ephesians 6:18 praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,

Philippians 4:6-7 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

James 5:14-16 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.

I just hung up the phone at which time I was having a conversation about prayer, and my friend and I were trying to think of all the places in our Bibles were references to prayer, and prayers being answered, and then I go on Twitter, where I see a Tweet about this post. So yeah. My prayers have been answered. God bless you in whatever this day held for you, may your prayers be answered, and I will be sending more up in His name, Lord Jesus, Amen.

The words “the power of prayer” never appear in the holy Bible. The construction “the power prayer” is the conclusion humans have ascribed to motivate and encourage people to pray. This conclusion is based on the fact that when we pray in accordance to His will results are always immediate but not always made visible immediately. This is because the prayer of faith is always answered. The closest wording we have in scripture uniting the words prayer and power are in James 5:14-16, but note that it’s the prayer of a righteous man (or a man of faith that is powerful). This verbal construction reminds me of another famous religious clause “the power of sin”. Sin has no power because the power of sin is the law ( 1Cor. 15:56). Just a few thoughts after reading your post.
In the mystery of the gospel yours in Christ Jesus, our Lord.

I got up in the middle of the night and started praying for like 30 minutes and saw a place of light in the corner of the room than I looked and light was on the other side.

I have experienced the power of prayer in so many ways. The wrong doors have been shut and the right doors opened immediately after I have prayed. It is such a blessing to be able to talk to Gid who knows all my troubles. Praying has brought me closer and closer to God and people call on me for prayer.
I love praying and the benefits.
