Winter Driving is Full of Hazards, Having CAA Helps

Share Button

Winter is on the menu here in Southern Ontario, from what I hear we are in for 10cm this coming weekend. To us this means the joys of Winter driving, all of the hazards increase and we are driving slower and using our defensive driving skills.

Just using the words defensive driving skills has me looking back to when my Father was teaching me to drive. He would get into the car wtih a cup of hot coffee, set it on the dash and tell me to spin donuts in an empty snowy parking lot without spilling his coffee. This my friends was how I leaned to drive on snowy roads…under the watchful eye of my Father and his beloved cuppa joe.

No matter how prepared we are, unexpected things happen on the roads and during the Winter months the outcome can be much worse. We prefer to prepare ourselves and one of the things we do is to use a CAA membership.

I’ve been a CAA member for years, commuting is a way of life for us and our CAA membership has saved us many times while on the road! We’ve used the Roadside Services, Auto Repair and the Towing Services.

We’ve even had to call when we found a flat tire and the CAA van rolled into our driveway and fixed us up in no time! Someone may have locked her keys in the car at one point but I’ll save that story for another day…no need to embarrass myself here.

CAA membership is something I’d recommend to anyone driving, especially in the Winter months. The peace of mind is fantastic and the many benefits certainly make it worthwhile. If you don’t have one, consider it and remember it makes a great Christmas gift!

CAA South Central Ontario is a not-for-profit auto club which also offers travel deals, home insurance, travel insurance and auto insurance. There are more than 1.9 million CAA members in South Central Ontario and over 5.9 million members in Canada.

I trust CAA and plan on renewing my car insurance with them in May. Thank you for this review!
