tentree clothing has several styles to choose from for men and women and offers meaningful gifts to your loved ones this Christmas.
I noticed a Saskatchewan up-and-comer business hit it big when I tuned into Dragon’s Den a couple of years ago. I couldn’t help but laugh when Arlene and Kevin argued about profit versus new business responsibility; of course I sided with Arlene on this one. Snicker. Bruce made the statement “The environment is not a fad.”; I couldn’t agree more. New business has to be socially and environmentally responsible; consumers demand it and our future generations deserve it.
tentree started with a passion for quality clothing and provides customers with environmentally and socially conscious choices. For every item purchased, ten trees are planted. Reforestation revitalizes the soil and oxygen supply, but more importantly, it benefits locals living in the area by providing sustainable lifestyles. tentree has partnered with not-for-profits across the planet to ensure they continue on the path of providing a global footprint, identifying regions that will benefit most from planting.
Minimizing the Footprint on the Planet
tentree works to promote fair labour practices and safe working conditions throughout the supply chain. We only work with socially and environmentally responsible factories that are WRAP approved, agree to yearly unannounced audits, and abide by our code of ethics. The factories we work with commit to fair hours of work, absolutely no child labour, fair compensation based on local laws, a safe and healthy workplace, and adherence to environmentally conscious practices.
We have worked to ensure that our environmental footprint is minimized throughout the supply chain by only working with factories that can source product from the local region. By doing this, we have shrunk our overall environmental impact and reduced approximately 15% of the pollution through shipping.
Customers purchases have planted 3,122,620 tress so far; how many will you add? For more information on the environmental footprint of tentree, read here.
Standing next to the baseball diamond, your fingers interwoven with the chain-link fence, you breath in the smell of freshly cut grass. You pull up your loose tri-blend “Congo” baseball tee as it hangs off of your shoulder, your fingers grazing over the distinct grey collar. The classic tentree design on the front is clean and simple, standing out against the colour of the shirt. Just like the river it was named after, you feel powerful and confident in your tee.
You breathe in deep, the crisp late autumn air rich with the smell of pine. You link arms with your partner as you walk through the open doors of the store, along the rows of artificial trees. As golden lights twinkle above you, you smile, relishing in your favourite time of the year. In front of you, standing tall, is a deep green fir tree. Similar to the print of the tree on your incredibly soft poly-viscose blend “Uluru” dolman tee, you know that this is the perfect tree for you. Writing down the last four digits of the UPC, you search for a salesperson to help you bring home your very own tree.
Palm trees line the walking path along the beach, where crowds of people have set up camp for the long day. You sit on a white bench, looking out at the rippling azure water dotted sparingly with the billowing sails of boats gliding along the coast. Immediately you roll up the sleeves of your 50/50 “Mistral” tee in an attempt to cool yourself off on this unseasonably warm autumn day in the south of France. The vintage inspired tentree apparel print on your shirt is rustic and imaginative, and reminds you of the wooden trailhead signs throughout the forests back home. Feeling slightly more comfortable, you lean back on the bench, staring out at the ocean in front of you.
redwood Men’s Hoodie – Standing in the midst of a forest, you feel utterly and completely insignificant. Walking towards one particularly large tree, a group of your friends hold hands, attempting to wrap themselves around the entirety of its enormous trunk. You take a photo of their attempt before putting on your colour-blocked interior hood and having a go. As the flash of the camera goes off, you feel the bark next to your skin, your mid-weight fleece “Redwood” zip-up pressed firmly against the tree. The text printed on your hoodie hints at the power of Mother Earth. Anything crafted by nature, you realize, is truly amazing.
blossom Women’s Hoodie – The wind kicks up suddenly, sending a wave of leaves down from the sky and into the yard. Giggling, you chase after your niece, who has found herself covered in the pile of leaves you have been raking up all afternoon. Reaching the pile, you pick her up, swinging her around as she laughs. She rests her face on your mid-weight fleece “Blossom” hoodie, picking off a leaf that has stuck itself to your shoulder, and smiles. The blowing leaves on your sweater are perfect for the blustery autumn day. Playing with your niece in the leaves, you feel like a child again.
