It’s hard to pick just one treat – we bake several different kinds of cookies to give away to friends and family. It all started 16 years ago – my sister was on mat leave and decided to spend a day baking cookies. I felt a bit jealous, so decided to play hookey from work…and thus was born the annual Cookie Hookey day. We now have up to FIVE bakers, baking cookies, bars, loaves and even doing some candy making. We then split up all the treats between everyone, and take them home. Because it’s gotten so large, we now rent a church kitchen to help handle the load. Everyone goes over their recipes, pulling out the old favourites, and finding some new ones. Of course there are always those recipes that HAVE to be made; ginger crackles, shortbread, date squares…. they are all memories. Every recipe is doubled (after all if you’re going to dirty dishes, make it worthwhile), mixers are driven to the max, and pans barely have time to cool before being put back in the oven. The baking itself, is now a well loved tradition that will carry on for years to come! Rest assured, that a prize pack like this will be well used, and well loved!
