Disclosure: I am participating in the FujiFilm Canada campaign managed by SJ Consulting. I received compensation in exchange for my participation in this campaign. The opinions on this blog are my own.
If there’s one thing that can bring me back in time to a memory that stirs my soul, it’s a photo. Between my bookcase full of photo albums to my Facebook memories feed, I can be found oohing and ahhing over days gone by that were captured as if they’re happening right now! One thing which nags at me is how rarely I print off my photos these days as the digital world has taken over.
When I was a girl, I’d sit for hours pouring through the family albums and my girls are now doing the same so it’s time to get going with this. The fact is that I’m not going to be the person who develops film from a store…I honestly don’t have time for that. Instead I’m going to print right here at home instantly using the instax SQUARE SQ10 and the Fujifilm instax SHARE SP-3 printer. This is also an AMAZING printer to have on hand for holiday gatherings or birthday parties. I can take photos in the moment and hand them over to guests to take home…with 2 daughters having birthdays this month, I’m SO doing that at their parties! Mom WIN!
instax SQUARE SQ10
The fine folks at FujiFilm Canada have provided me with an instax SQUARE SQ10 to show you all of the features so let’s check it out!
This baby is much sleeker than I’d imagined. It has a rounded, smooth surface which fits in my hand well and isn’t as bulky as some instax cameras I’ve tried in the past. It has a dual shutter system with two shutter buttons – one on the right and one on the left. There are loads of settings so you’re fully in control and don’t worry when it comes out of the box there’s a handy reference guide on the back.
There are 2 print settings on the camera – manual or automatic. When you choose automatic it will print a photo immediately but I prefer the manual so I have time to review my photos to make sure I got the shot I want before printing.
There is a command dial to perform all operations from editing and processing to printing, so your photos come out just the way you want them. With the colour TFT LCD screen on the back, I can set up my shot just as I like rather than just using the viewfinder.
You’ll find there are many options for filters…have fun and check them out!
This new instax camera combines the best of both worlds; the control and composition of a digital camera, with the enjoyment and tangible fun of a real photo print. This camera produces square photos that retro look and the perfection of a 1:1 aspect adds sophistication to every photo, no matter what the composition. At 86 x 72mm it’s the largest instax photos to date. The FujiFilm Instant Film “instax SQUARE” is sold separately and comes in packs of 10 prints.
We can save up to 50 photos using the internal memory or even use a micro SD card to store more. There is a time/date stamp function, a tri pod hole, 5 flash settings and digital zoom up to 2.4x. Whew….now I think you’ll see how this wee baby has stepped up the instant camera game.
instax SHARE SP-3 printer
I highly recommend picking up the instax SHARE SP-3 printer when you’re buying the instax SQ10. This baby makes things FUN right away. There’s something about seeing your memories print in front of your eyes that just excites everyone.
With this printer you can connect to your smartphone and print your photos directly! Seriously, if you have teens this is a favourite. They can login to their social media accounts and print. A new laser exposure system achieves a faster printing time of 13 seconds from print data transfer to print output.
Download the free INSTAX SHARE app from the Apple Store or Google Play to have access to the new user interface and functions which includes adding text, doing a collage, applying filters and more.
