They Stole My Mojo & Left Me With Wet Wipes – Joys of Motherhood

January 19, 2014 By SoberJulie 4 Comments

This weekend has reminded me why I'll never qualify for the June Cleaver award or any other motherhood award. Deep within my soul I do have a talent for organizing and managing schedules. Apparently the rest of life is sitting in front of it so this talent hasn't a chance to flourish. Or so I tell myself. Honestly, when I had children it all began so innocently. With our first born I had those mini-baby socks all paired, sheets were properly folded with the fitted corners tucked into each ...

Ice Storm 2013 – Gave Me The Best “I Told You So”

December 23, 2013 By SoberJulie 7 Comments

Here in Ontario we were warned that an ice storm was coming and we scoffed. Yes indeed, we shook our heads thinking of all of the times in the past that we'd been warned by weather only to have a smattering of snow. Winter rarely stops one person in this house; whether it's a foot of snow or an inch of ice my husband just brushes off my 4x4 vehicle and leaves for work early. So far so good, he's always made it. He's a bit of a mountain man at heart while I am a different breed...I'm much more ...

Don’t let so-much-Christmas and so-little-budget put a damper on your holiday spirit! Seasonal costs can add up quickly, but you can party on a budget. On my blog, Spaceships and Laser Beams, we specialize in parties for boys, so I have a ton of ideas. Hosting a Christmas Party on a Budget First off, start with what you have on hand. Music, ...

Chelsea is 8 Today!! Introducing Chelsea Chat…a kidblog for her birthday

December 13, 2013 By SoberJulie 7 Comments

Today our youngest daughter, Chelsea turns 8 years old! As you can imagine, this is a BIG day...it would be for anyone celebrating a birthday but perhaps it's compounded by being the youngest in her class. She has been waiting ALL year to be the same age as everyone in her class and today there were cheers when we found out the school busses were running, it's been snowing overnight and oh how upset she would have been if she didn't get to share the day with her friends. When we asked ...

Sick as a Dog Plus a Tooth Abscess = Invalid Julie

November 3, 2013 By SoberJulie 7 Comments

SoberJulie at dentist

I am horrifically sick, like teary-eyed, body aches, nose running and sinus inflamed gross sick. Lovely use of English grammar there I know but you'll have to forgive me as I'm typing through a haze. This haze isn't one from pain killers, no-no...although that would be a relief this alcoholic won't take any kind of addictive medication. This all started with a gentle sniffle a few days ago and overnight progressed into a cold that knocked me to my knees. One would think that's enough but ...
