Sand,Love and God at MBC

May 10, 2011 By SoberJulie 27 Comments

I am writing this piece in response to a prompt on The Red Dress ClubThis week's RemembeRED memoir prompt asked us to write a memory of sand.Last summer we took our first vacation as a family; we had rented a trailer at the retreat where my sister and her family had spent their summers for years. We had visited many times, enjoyed the location and time with family and returned home with a few memories. We also took away feelings of being uncomfortable; we had never quite fit in. This Christian ...

Alcoholism – Changes aren’t easy

May 6, 2011 By SoberJulie 20 Comments

This piece is written in response to a prompt on The Red Dress Club, a writers website I love. April 25, 2011 By SoberJulie 1 Comment

I've decided to do a sort of Step Study on my blog. I plan for this to develop over time to hopefully assist others in understanding my journey and perhaps help someone who is still suffering. In no way do I claim to be a representative of any organization or fellowship, these words are simply my own which tell of my personal journey. You can see my article on Step 1 here.It seemed appropriate to write about Step 2 on this Easter Sunday, I wish you and yours a wonderful Easter. Our Lord is ...

Integrity

April 20, 2011 By SoberJulie 22 Comments

Are you honest? Perhaps you've faced this question before, in a job interview, a questionnaire or another fact gathering situation where the party presenting it doesn't know you. Of course we answer with an emphatic YES, especially when we are facing someone who could affect our lives. When a teacher suspects a student of cheating she rarely bothers asking the question, wouldn't make sense would it? I typed "are you honest" into Google to see what would come up; I found the majority of ...
