Beef Steak Skewer Appetizer Recipe
  • 1 lb beef, steak, flank or whatever you’d like to use (but cheaper cuts are best for this dish)
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • ¾ cup soy sauce (try to use low sodium)
  • 1 teasoop ginger, minced or powder
  • 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
  • dash red chili flakes
  • as desired pepper
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • ¼ cup water
  1. Preheat the grill to 350 degrees F or medium
  2. Slice the steak AGAINST the grain in long strips
  3. Thread the beef onto the skewers
  4. Season with salt and pepper and set aside briefly
  5. In a saucepan, combine both sugars, soy sauce,  ginger, garlic, red chili flakes and pepper. Bring to a boil
  6. Make slurry with the cornstarch and water, and add to the sauce. Stir until it begins to thicken and remove off the heat.
  7. Place the skewers on the grill. Grill them for 2-3 minutes and then flip them.
  8. After you flip them, begin basting the skewers with the sauce. Flip them again and baste the other side.
  9. Repeat this basting for 2 more  flips, both for 2 per side.
  10. Remove from the grill and serve.
