If you’ve been paying attention in the juice aisle you may have ended up asking yourself “What is a Pomegranate?” It seems that pomegranates are everywhere these days, in juices, desserts and oh yes even candies.
What Is A Pomegranate?
Pomegranates are a fruit which originated in Persia but now is found worldwide in drier climates. Pomegranates grow on shrub like bushes and have a thick outer skin. They are red in colour and once you peel back the skin there are luscious seeds, called arils, inside. These seeds are edible, with a sweet and sour taste.
Pomegranates are one of the healthier foods you can eat. High in antioxidants, potassium, vitamin C, and a great source of fiber, pomegranates pack a nutritional punch that most foods can’t come close to! A glass of pomegranate juice has more antioxidants than green tea, blueberries, and cranberries.
