Multi-Family Vacation Home in Destin Florida

Need help planning a multi-family vacation? I’m here to help! Last Spring I fell in love with an area of Florida that knocked my socks off. This is a wee bit of heaven on Earth and it had been calling to me since the day I left. With sugar-white sand, turquoise waters and the friendliness of everyone I met during my travels, Destin Florida had become one of the very few vacation cities that I was yearning to return to.

In the fall we were having dinner with some very good friends when they mentioned that they were planning on a road trip to Florida and wanted to invite us. We jumped at the chance and we all agreed that we would love to find space where all 3 families could have condos or rooms that were close to one another. We were a group of 12 with children ranging from 11 to 17 so we were on the hunt for the perfect multi-family vacation home in Destin, Florida.

After some online research, I reached out to Resort Quest Wyndham Vacation Rentals because they have 25 Brands which provide vacation rentals of all types around the world.  If you aren’t certain where you want to go, head to the Wyndham Vacation Rentals website where their search tool can help you choose based upon the type of vacation you’re looking for.

We decided to stay at two properties during our week in Destin, the Waterscape Condos and then we moved onto an unbelievable coastal home in the Island Neighborhood of Destin Pointe Homes. This home is simply a masterpiece! We had scoured the information online prior to our trip and yet somehow we hadn’t grasped the magnitude of the beauty we would find when we walked in the door.

The home is called Living the Dream which is utterly appropriate! Please allow me to take you through the property using photos….

Living the Dream with Destin Pointe Homes – Perfect Multi-Family Vacation Home

From the front you can see that the home has covered parking for 2 vehicles. We used the door in the garage to access the house which leads right into the dining room area.

With seating for 8 and vaulted ceilings, the dining room is filled with light and a welcoming space to break bread with friends. Notice the over-sized baseboards and lovely chandelier and you’ll get a feel for the attention to detail which is found throughout the home.

Turn to the left and you’ll find a fabulous dinette with plenty of seating for a crowd. This became the gathering place for the children in the evenings, with plenty of games and laughter. During meal times we all sat comfortably in the same area without feeling cramped.

Moving forward into the heart of the home there is a glorious kitchen! This is a designer kitchen which was this foodie’s dream. There were stainless steel appliances, dishwasher, pot filler over the stove and well…honestly everything we needed to enjoy large family meals.

From cutting boards, quality knives and good quality coffee makers…it was all there. Against the far wall there was a very large pantry which was perfect for our giant load of groceries. We had room for everything and didn’t create clutter on the counters.

With the rental, you are provided with paper towel, a small liquid soap, laundry detergent and some toilet paper. No worries though, there are plenty of shops nearby to stock up. Also noteworthy is the fact that garbage is picked up daily between 10 and 12 so there’s never a problem that way.

On the far side of the kitchen is the living room. With comfy seating for 15 people and a fantastic cable TV package, rainy days aren’t a problem here!

The wet bar which is on the far wall of the living room was the perfect spot for the adults to store beverages. This made it simple to monitor how much the children were drinking and there’s even an ice machine!

How adorable is this full-sized laundry room? We love the decor and the fact that the machines are FULL sized so that we could wash all of our laundry and not arrive home having to do it. Again notice the colours and feel…it matches the coastal feel of the rest of the house.

On the main floor there are 2 bedrooms, first I’m going to show you the one that Brad and I stayed in. Tell me that you would have caught your breath as I did when the door opened. This room is massive, my photo doesn’t do it justice as there’s just too much to show in one shot. With 2 dressers, a massive closet in the bath, claw foot tub and walk in shower I was in heaven.

The mattresses in the rooms were high quality, I believe they are memory foam and my back was grateful.

Yes I did spend loads of time in that tub…

Off we go to the second bedroom on the main floor. This began as Sydney’s bedroom and she was delighted with the “surf” theme and the fact that she had her own TV to control.

The main floor also has a bathroom for everyone to use. I loved the flooring which had stones set in grout. The walk in shower makes it accessible for anyone in the home.

Now we shall go upstairs where there are 2 balconies, 4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and a surprise area for the kids.

Let’s begin with the master bedroom at the front of the home with a massive 2 door balcony. There is a king sized bed, 4 closets and 2 desks. The decor is lovely yet again both in the room and in the private bath. Lisa and Mike stayed in this room and were kind enough to have us up for coffee on their balcony often.

This room’s private bath has a walk in shower and double vanity. Plenty of space for two people to get ready at the same time.

The next room is also a master suite with a king sized bed, private bathroom and a walkout to a balcony which is shared with another bedroom overlooking the pool at the back of the home. Our friends Shannon and Matt stayed in this room and enjoyed their private oasis after a busy day.

Moving on, we find the “sunshine” room which one of our teenagers claimed. This room has a bright and airy feel, with a private bathroom, TV and the right amount of privacy. The lad staying in here is 17 and he raved about this room.

The bathroom off of the “sunshine” room carried on with the bicycle decorations, isn’t it adorable? It also has a shower which made the teen quite happy.

Sharing the back deck with the back master is this lovely room with a queen sized bed and access to the bathroom off the hallway. The balcony is off of the backyard pool and I know the girl staying in this room enjoyed surprising everyone by peeking over the railing at them.

This bathroom is shared between the queen sized bedroom and the hallway upstairs. This became the kids bathroom as it has the loft room just beside it.

Now I will share with you the kids favourite place in the house! This is an incredible place; with 4 queen bunks that each have their own lights and plugs, it was heaven to the tweens and teens. There is a TV in the room and couches which were perfect for the younger crowd.

There are two more features upstairs which I have to mention; a second laundry room with full-sized machines and this wet bar which has a second coffee maker. BRILLIANT! I know my coffee-loving friends were overjoyed to think they could program it to brew first thing in the morning to enjoy coffee in bed.

Moving outside of the home, there are 4 balconies to enjoy….the one at the back of the home on the main floor became our favourite. Overlooking the pond with the backyard private pool below this is a spot to love. There is a TV and a fireplace for the cooler evenings, curl up on the patio furniture and enjoy.

The pool is a great addition; it has jets and lights and can be heated for a fee. There is a remote control which you use to change the light colours, turn on the wall fountain and change the temperature.

This is a gated community which is well cared for. One of the features our family enjoyed was the bicycles which were free to use to tour around. There are bike racks located around the community which makes life easy.

Within the community there are 2 pools to use, one is heated and one isn’t. There is plenty of seating at both and the kids loved them.

Within a 5 minute stroll or 2 minute bike are two areas of beach. One leads to the Gulf of Mexico and one leads to Destin’s East Pass. Both beaches are pristine with breathtaking views. We spend most of our time on the beach at the Gulf of Mexico side where the white sand and turquoise waters were perfect.

With your home rental, you receive two beach chairs and an umbrella at no charge.

If you head down just before sunset, you’ll see dolphins playing just where the break wall ends. Then prepare yourself for some of the most gorgeous sunsets you’ll ever see!

Wow, that’s a lot of information and photos!

This is one of the most incredible properties I have ever stayed in and I highly suggest speaking to Resort Quest Wyndham Vacation Rentals if you are seeking information about a multi-family vacation location. First of all, GORGEOUS accommodations! Talk about all the creature comforts of home – and more! And the pools! Oh my! As someone who has visited the east, west, and southern coasts of Florida, I found your review to be very interesting. I have to say, I had never considered the Destin area/Florida panhandle as a place I would long to visit. Apparently, I should be considering this area! I had no idea the beaches were so beautiful there either. And the crystal clear water! Your photos really capture how beautiful it is in this part of Florida. Glad you had such a great trip! Also…love the idea of going away with a group of friends like that! Fun!
